Zattaya.in - A Promising Startup of Online Coupon Codes in India

I was just surfing online when i saw an advertisement on television of Jabong.com so thought of purchasing something from it as i am a big fan of shopping online. On the checkout page it asked if you had a coupon code so i Googled online and came across this awesome website which offers FREE OF COST online discount coupon codes of almost all the Indian eCommerce websites in India.

While browsing the website i loved the color scheme of the website. The orange color is very soothing to the eyes & its easy to use navigation and its most up to date listing of coupons made it one of the best coupons websites i have visited. After comparing it to other so called coupon leading coupon websites in India, i saw an exclusive list of coupons available on Zattaya which were not available else where of various eCommerce players like: Expedia Coupons, Jabong Coupons, Myntra Coupons and many more.

The website also categorizes coupon codes on the basis of Travel, Clothing, Electronics, Books, Baby Products & Health and Beauty.

I would highly recommend this website to get free coupon codes and to avail online discounts on your next vacation planning or buying your next mobile phone.

New Cadbury Dairy Milk Silk

Cadbury is always remembered for its advertisements and the tagline "Asli Swaad zindagi ka".
They carefully started out with attracting the kids and then the adults in having chocolate instead of Mithai in occasions of happiness. Cadbury is reviving its old memories and its core positioning of "Enjoying the moments". The new advertisements are very attractive and reminds the adults who had forgotten about the original brand promise and will be attracted towards the brand again.
The new ads are shown below:

I believe their sales will really shoot upward after these advertisements. All in all very good work done by its agency and we should learn from how Dairy Milk evolved as a Brand in India since its arrival.

Google BUZZ - Google played the right move.

Recently Google just unveiled its new social innovation named BUZZ. After the not so successful Google Wave, the company has learned from the failure & played it safe.
Buzz is not a separate product but embedded inside Gmail. There are about 176 million unique visitors every month in Gmail so imagine 176 million people being already a member of Buzz & automatically following their friends & getting updates from them. As it is placed just below the Inbox in Gmail there is a very good probability that people will actually click on it & use it atleast once.
Google was in a habit of winning until Facebook, Twitter entered the marketplace & become really serious and huge businesses which can be a serious threat for Google in the future. Therefore Google has now realized that if they can beat MSN, Altavista & come up with a superior search engine & become a Giant in just 10 years then FaceBook & Twitter can repeat history and do it in 4 years.
Google strategy had always been acquiring companies when they start becoming big & offer tempting valuations which are very hard to resist like Youtube for $1.6 billion, DoubleClick for $3.1 billion. But Facebook and Twitter decided to stay in the game so now Google is fighting back with Reinventing orkut, Wave & now BUZZ.

Google BUZZ - Do we really need it ?
Many people think the opposite but I think we need social products like BUZZ in our life. They make sharing much more easier. I think its a very nice tool to share various stuff with your friends, brainstorm on ideas or when you need some suggestions / advice from friends.

See the video below to understand what Buzz exactly is...

Therefore i think Google did the right thing by launching Buzz & embedding it inside Gmail to have an edge over our social tools available online.

How will BUZZ shape up, its for time to see but from my experience my friends are using it regularly.

ManMohan Singh website hacked by Pakistani Hackers

I recently came to know which is quite embarrassing and a very shameful for us Indians that our honorable Prime Minister's website www.manmohansingh.org had been hacked by Pakistani Hackers. :-(

The website was fixed soon & not much damage was done to it. It would have been a really bad situation if the hackers would have hosted the website on some other country's server. The government never seems to learn from their mistakes as there has been such incidents in the past also when tampering has been done with government websites.

Latest Stuff: Globally & Locally

I've been blogging after a long time, was involved in a lot of things from the past few days.

There has been a lot of interesting stuff going around, innovations happening, startups opening (Locally & Globally) which i have'nt written about. Writing some of them together in this post.. :P

1. eBook Reader comes to India

Recently Sony brought its eBook reader in India followed by Amazon Kindle started shipping to India. I think this eBook reader with its latest eInk technology has a long way to go & will be the next big gadget to look out for. It has revolutionized the way people read books & have changed the way of reading which has been the same since books were invented. After seeing all the eBook readers by Sony, Amazon, Samsung the latest entrant is the nook, which is the best out of all.

See this vid of nook & u'll find it why.

2. TED finally comes to India

TED has organized their first event in India in Mysore at Infy campus. For those of you who don't know what TED is, TED stands for Technology, Entertainment and Design but believe me its far more than that. I was seeing it live at ted.indiatimes.com.

I would recommend you subscribe to their youtube channel - http://www.youtube.com/user/TEDtalksDirector

From all the talks the best one was by Pranav Mistry founder of Sixth Sense. He demonstrated his technology live which left the audience shocked & excited.

Sixth Sense uses a camera and gesture recognition technology to turn any surface into a screen and to use your fingures to interact between the real and the virtual world.

3. PhokatCopy

This is a new startup into the Indian advertising space. As the ROI of traditional advertising mediums are decreasing with time, new innovative mediums are catching up like this one. They advertise on the back pages of photostat pages in colleges. I always found this idea being implemented in US, Japan interesting but now its in India giving it an Indian touch. Very well implemented and they have got a few advertisers on board as well like FastTrack, Nirula's etc.

The most amazing part in this company is its its unique name which they have also registered as a Trademark. Good Going !!!

Recession hits men's underwear sales

Just read this article & i got mentally satisfied by this reasoning that yeah I am not hit by recession.
According to Economist.com, the demand for male underwear will decrease as "hadly anyone see's a guys undies so that will be the first thing they will stop buying" and all this has been backed by facts as there was a decline of 12% in the demand. (Wow...)
So this means now there will be only superman & batman contributing to the demand. I am still guessing what can these superheroes do to cut their spends.

Bootstrapping your startup - How much does it cost ?

A lot of people think that its pretty cheap to open & run a company or a website & will cost about 50k to 1lac or so, but one learns with experience that there are more things that need money like legal costs, dedicated server, office costs etc.
I read this article & found it pretty helpful which explains all the costs which have to be incurred when you open a serious business.
