Latest Stuff: Globally & Locally
There has been a lot of interesting stuff going around, innovations happening, startups opening (Locally & Globally) which i have'nt written about. Writing some of them together in this post.. :P
1. eBook Reader comes to India
Recently Sony brought its eBook reader in India followed by Amazon Kindle started shipping to India. I think this eBook reader with its latest eInk technology has a long way to go & will be the next big gadget to look out for. It has revolutionized the way people read books & have changed the way of reading which has been the same since books were invented. After seeing all the eBook readers by Sony, Amazon, Samsung the latest entrant is the nook, which is the best out of all.
See this vid of nook & u'll find it why.
2. TED finally comes to India
TED has organized their first event in India in Mysore at Infy campus. For those of you who don't know what TED is, TED stands for Technology, Entertainment and Design but believe me its far more than that. I was seeing it live at ted.indiatimes.com.
I would recommend you subscribe to their youtube channel - http://www.youtube.com/user/TEDtalksDirector
From all the talks the best one was by Pranav Mistry founder of Sixth Sense. He demonstrated his technology live which left the audience shocked & excited.
Sixth Sense uses a camera and gesture recognition technology to turn any surface into a screen and to use your fingures to interact between the real and the virtual world.
3. PhokatCopy
This is a new startup into the Indian advertising space. As the ROI of traditional advertising mediums are decreasing with time, new innovative mediums are catching up like this one. They advertise on the back pages of photostat pages in colleges. I always found this idea being implemented in US, Japan interesting but now its in India giving it an Indian touch. Very well implemented and they have got a few advertisers on board as well like FastTrack, Nirula's etc.
The most amazing part in this company is its its unique name which they have also registered as a Trademark. Good Going !!!

Impatience costs big bucks in India
Click here to see the Airtel 16Mbps plan offered by the company.
Take another look it at carefully & then you'll see impatience totally ripped off... :0
Now here's the working...
The company's plan is Rs. 2999 for 20 GB /mth. If we calculate it its just 2hrs 47 minutes per month. :) (Now thats an eye opener).
It means approx 6 mins a day of impatience at just Rs. 2999 (cool isn't it). The additional charge is Rs 1 /second so 6 hrs a day will cost just Rs. 6.47 lacks / mth.
Conclusion: I am going to buy the company's stocks right away...!!!

Mayawati hunger for power grows further
This construction has been going on from the last year round the clock & it is being said that this is even bigger than the Akshardham temple.
I feel really sad as this project is not only being built on government's land, the money spent i.e approx 300 crores will surely come from the taxes we pay & about 3000 trees have also been cut , forget about the whole two parks being totally eaten away.
The newspaper publishers are happy. They are getting good news but no one is doing anything about it
This dude (Kanshi Ram) will be happy in heaven as his statue will be there in the museum. (feels nice to dead..right)
She will be the happiest of all as she deserves to get even a bigger MALA than this. Hats off to her.. (Even her statue will be there)
BUT the Television Media is Sad..They have not been able to get a good shot as no one is allowed to enter the construction premises...

Circular given to sportspersons to order them to respect the so called fair government awards
M S Gill said that he will issue a circular to ensure sportspersons treat national awards with respect & he will ensure such an act does not happen again. It seems as if M S Gill is in a habit of ordering people around and he is the master as he sounded like Dhoni & Harbhajan has commited a serious offence by not attending the awards. So what they did not attend, so what they were busy shotting for advertisement or were hanging in a bar, it is them who have earned this status & fame and they bring pride to India and by the way they also pay huge taxes every year from where M S Gill gets paid his salary (under the table is a different case).
By the way we all know how these government awards are decided in the political process & who deserves & who gets awarded. I am sure they are well aware of all this stuff so i guess it was a good decision made by them by shooting commercials & contributing to the taxes rather than attending the function which is yes of national importance but are not at all fair.
Thats what friends are for..A happy & a long life...:D
"Life is a little haraami & we are little haraamkhoors too. When we find someone whose haraamkhori match ours, we fall into mutual harampanti & call it friendship"
This is really true & wow now it has been proved by a research.. :)
Recently i read an article in TOI that a research has been conducted that medicines, doctors etc yes help a person to live longer but the main ingredient for a longer life is friendship. A person tends to live longer in his life if he has friends with whom interaction takes place regularly & develop somewhat similar characteristics as of their friends. They say friends are a really powerful weapon to fight illness, slow aging and prolong living & its very true. Friends are the only people when you can be the TRUE YOU when you are with them & all the other times we wear different masks with different people. I feel really blessed by GOD that i have such lovely friends in my life which i have made for my own selfish reasons (for a longer life).. :)

DLF hugely indebted - Rupees 130 billion (WTF!)
Thats not the real problem, the problem is that need to repay 43 billion rupees by June this year and how will they do it...by ofcouse selling real estate (their core business) but in these recessionary times not much people are investing in real estate so they are only left with the option of selling of their non-core businesses like wind power business (which is bound to become big in the coming years) & a lot of people are critizing this decesion but i think they are left with no options other than selling it and thats a real bad sign. They are also planning to sell away with the land that they had kept to be used for retail and other commercial projects and this is the situation of the company when experts believe that the markets are down for sure but have not hit the bottom & the worst is yet to come.
What DLF is just doing is that they are postponing the debt problem but not actually solving it.The markets are still in a correction phase so probably a time can come when they have to pay the other biliion rupee debts and they will find themselves back to square one with the same challenge but without the wind power business to postpone it further.
The other part of the story is that i have heard people that DLF & some other players are in a very comfortable position as they can afford to do major price cuts in their projects (upto 50%) & still not be in a loss. But they are already doing that, RIGHT... DLF projects are being offered at 20-30% discounts but still there arn't many buyers. The major problem for the realtor's are that huge amount of capital gets blocked in their projects & when they fail to find buyers then they land up in the same problem as DLF.
The sure thing is that it will be a real pain for DLF coz they are selling the wind power business as it's right now in a nascent stage but its bound to grow big & they must have planned to reap its benefits in the long term which now they won't be able to. No one knows how the situation & the condition of the real estate will turn up in the future. We should hope for the best as a major part of our economy is dependent on it.
